    Carmen has provided content for numerous news and specialty publications, providing both articles and photographs. Recent clients have included:

  • Eagle Feather News, Saskatchewan Sage, Alberta Sweetgrass and Ontario Birchbark (provincial Aboriginal newsmagazines)

  • She has also written for a number of Canadian business, youth, Aboriginal and religious specialty publications.
Creative Services Carmen has worked as a radio reporter with Missinipi Broadcasting and as a screenwriter on contract with the Athabasca Economic Development Corporation. She is open to assignments in either radio or documentary screenwriting. Communications

Research
    Carmen has served as a research assistant (doing on-line research and face-to-face interviews) for author Maggie Siggins' book Bitter Embrace: White Society's Assault on the Woodland Cree, and as a researcher for the Northern Teacher Education Program and Professional Access College (NORTEP/PAC) on its impact on northern communities in its first 30 years. She is open to doing further research work, either journalistic or academic.
Scrapbooking
  • Carmen has been an active scrapbooker for 13 years, and is interested in work as either a designer (using products or creating content for blogs or stores) or as a writer.

    Potential services in this area, to include:

    • writing press releases to promote new products or services, or introduce the company to a new market (eg. for trade shows, local media, industry magazines)
    • writing manufacturer biographies (short blurbs or more in-depth pieces)
    • writing material for packaging
    • writing/editing blog content
    • writing a newsletter for product users/retailers with sample layouts, ideas, etc. (compiling material generated by design team)
    • proofreading and/or editing material provided by the client
    • photographing products for catalogues
    • writing catalogue descriptions and other required content
    • writing company reports

  • Scrapbooking design - Carmen's layouts and photos have been published by several industry publications, including Creating Keepsakes, Simple Scrapbooks and Memory Makers (as an Editor's Pick). She has also served as a guest designer for the All About Me challenge blog.
